The Marburg Heart Score was built for chest pain in primary care and needs no tests. Score one point for each: age and sex (women 65 or over, men 55 or over); known vascular disease (coronary, cerebrovascular or peripheral); pain worse on exercise; pain not reproducible by palpation; and the patient assuming the pain is from the heart. A score of 0–2 is low risk; 3–5 needs further assessment.
- Women ≥65 or men ≥55: 1 point
- Known vascular disease: 1 point
- Pain worse with exercise: 1 point
- Pain not reproducible on palpation: 1 point
- Patient thinks it is the heart: 1 point
