Daily Doctor is a daily briefing in your medical specialty, for healthcare professionals, published by RP SoftTech. This policy describes exactly what the app collects, why, and what we do with it. It is written to be read rather than to be defended, so it is short. "We" below means RP SoftTech.
What we collect#
- Your account. When you sign in we receive your email address and a user identifier. Signing in with Google also gives us your display name and profile photo URL. Signing in with Apple gives us your name on the first sign-in only — Apple sends it once and never again — and no photo; and if you chose Hide My Email, the address we receive is Apple's relay address, not your own, and we never learn the real one. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
- What you told us about your practice. Your specialty, the clinical topics you follow, and the time you want the briefing.
- What you do in the app. Which editions you opened, how far you read, what you saved, and any notes you wrote. Notes are yours; we do not read them and nothing in the app analyses them.
- Your device's notification token, so the morning briefing can reach the right phone.
- Crash reports and basic usage counts, through Google Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics — which screens were opened and what failed, not what you read in them.
What we do not collect#
- Any patient information. The app has nowhere to enter it and asks for none. Please do not put patient details in your notes.
- Your location, contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera.
- Any health information about you.
- Advertising identifiers. There is no advertising in this app and no advertising network receives anything.
Why we collect it#
To sign you in, to deliver the briefing at the hour you chose, to remember what you saved and where you stopped reading, and to find out when the app breaks. That is the whole list. We do not build a profile of you for any other purpose.
Who else sees it#
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. It reaches these parties, each doing a specific job:
- Google Firebase — authentication, push notification delivery, crash reporting and analytics.
- Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple. Apple issues the credential that proves who you are, so Apple knows you use this app. We send Apple nothing about what you read.
- Our own server, which stores your profile, library and notes. It runs on a Hostinger virtual server in Mumbai, India, and the database it writes to is MongoDB Atlas, also in Mumbai.
- A legal authority, if we are required by law to disclose something. We would tell you unless prohibited from doing so.
Where it is kept, and for how long#
Your profile, library and notes are stored in India. Firebase may process authentication and notification data outside India, under Google's own terms, and Sign in with Apple is processed by Apple under theirs.
We keep your data while your account exists. Delete your account and we delete your profile, library and notes within 30 days. Crash reports are retained by Firebase for up to 90 days on Google's schedule.
Deleting your account#
In the app: You → Settings → Delete account. You can also email info@rpsofttech.com from your registered address and we will do it for you. Deletion removes your profile, your saved items and your notes. It cannot be undone.
Security#
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with TLS. Access to the server is restricted to key-based administrative login. No system is perfect; if we ever discover a breach affecting your data we will tell you.
Children#
Daily Doctor is intended for healthcare professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
This is not medical advice#
Daily Doctor summarises published literature and regulatory announcements for professional readers. It is not medical advice, it is not a clinical decision-support device, and it must not be used to guide the care of an individual patient without consulting the primary source.
Changes#
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
