In a stroke call, the neurologist reads the first line and acts. ASPECTS is often buried in the findings or left out when the scan looks normal.
Open the report with haemorrhage (yes or no), ASPECTS and any hyperdense vessel. If ASPECTS is 10, say so — a stated 10 is information, an omitted score is not.
- Line one: haemorrhage, ASPECTS, hyperdense vessel sign.
- State ASPECTS even when it is 10.
- Note which regions are affected when it is below 10.
